Snowflakes and a 4th Birthday

I know..way overdue. That's the story of my life! Andrew celebrated his 4th birthday on February 13th. Where in the world has the time gone?? We had this awesome party planned, it was dinosaur themed of course. We had invited all his preschool classmates and a few friends from church. He was so looking forward to this party. Unfortunately the weather around here is extremely unpredictable. It can be snowing one day, and 60 degrees with thunderstorms the next.
This is what Andrew woke up to on his birthday.....
I had to make a decision whether or not to postpone the party or go on as planned. Thankfully the snow didn't stick well to the roads so we decided to go on as planned. I knew many of his friends wouldn't come because they probably figured we had canceled. Andrew didn't know any different. All of his family was there, and one of his friends from church came. They had a blast!
This is a picture of the amazing cake one of my coworkers made....

Here are some more pictures from the party.

Getting ready to blow out the candles.

This poor pinata was the highlight of the party.
Jackpot!
Presents!!
One awesome and very happy birthday boy!!
Me and my baby girl.
This sweet little girl is celebrating her 1st birthday today...I'll post on that later.

Happy 4th Birthday to my first born. You will always be mommy's sweet little boy.

Simple Pleasures

Kelly did a great post yesterday entitled Simple Pleasures. It just makes you really stop and think about the small things in life that make you smile.  Life has been extremely stressful for me lately. Work has been a major stress, Avery hasn't been sleeping well, Andrew is well...a 3, almost 4 year old (that speaks for itself). So it's nice to stop and think about the simple pleasures in life.  Here are some of mine..
A big glass of sweet tea
The smell of fresh dirt when the tractor has plowed the field
Warm, Spring days
Flip Flops
A nice hot bath
Smiles on my children's face
Reading a good magazine
Hearing one of my favorite beach music songs
Being on the boat and cruising the ICW
Walking around Beaufort in the summer
When Andrew out of the blue says, "Mommy, I love you."
Freshly washed sheets
Phone calls from friends
Lacie curling up in my lap
Seeing the look on a student's face when they understand a concept
Salty air
Date nights with my husband
Those are just a few of my simple pleasures....what are yours?
